The last joint is golden: Final milestone for TENP III

Okay, maybe the precious metal isn’t really used but we still affectionately call the last welded joint on a pipeline the ‘golden joint’.

And this is what we have now achieved on TENP III pipeline section from Hügelheim to Hüsingen. With this step, a major part of the construction work has been completed and it is now time to continue with the recultivation of the affected land.

Reason for the construction project

TENP III is a new pipeline consisting of three sections and one station of the existing TENP I pipeline. The new pipeline was required for technical reasons in order to continue to guarantee security of supply in the Baden-Württemberg region as well as in Switzerland and Italy.

One section runs from Hügelheim to Hüsingen, the other two run from Schwarzach to Eckartsweier in Baden-Württemberg and from Mittelbrunn to Klingenmünster in Rhineland-Palatinate. All three sections were built in the existing corridor, which means we first removed the TENP I pipes and then built the new TENP III pipeline almost entirely along the same route.
