Dr. Thomas Hüwener becomes Spokesman of the Management Board of OGE
OGE has made early arrangements for the succession of current CEO Dr. Jörg Bergmann: Dr. Thomas Hüwener will become spokesman of the management board on 01 July 2024.
The supervisory board of OGE has appointed Dr. Thomas Hüwener as spokesman of the management board of OGE starting on 1. July 2024. Hüwener (52) has held various positions at the company since 2001, including the last eleven years as member of the management board. As of this summer, Hüwener will be promoted to spokesman of the management board and will take over the department focusing on strategy, corporate development, network planning, customer services and human resources.
Dr. Jörg Bergmann will take his well-deserved retirement on 30 June 2024 as previously planned - after around 30 years in various roles at the company, including more than 15 years as a member of the executive board.
Lincoln Hillier Webb, chairman of the supervisory board of OGE, commented: "With Thomas Hüwener, we have not only been able to attract an outstanding candidate for the position of spokesman - we are also demonstrating that we want to continue on the path of transformation we have embarked on. In Thomas, we have found an experienced energy manager with a high level of expertise and the will to shape the future at the helm of OGE. This puts us in an ideal position for the future. I would like to thank Jörg Bergmann for his many years of successful work and achievements for OGE, particularly in the transformation of the company in recent years."
Dr. Thomas Hüwener on his new position as spokesman of the management board: "I am very pleased about the trust and appreciation of the supervisory board. We have many decisive years ahead of us: Both in the development of the hydrogen network and in the establishment of a CO2 transportation system. Together with the OGE team, I look forward to tackling these challenges and shaping the future of the company."
Dr. Jörg Bergmann on the appointment of his successor: "I am proud that the position of spokesperson has been filled by Thomas Hüwener from within the company and would like to congratulate him on his appointment. I am certain that Thomas will continue to drive forward the path that OGE has taken to transform our energy system towards climate neutrality, which we have shaped together in recent years."
